About the Great North Lymphatic Centre
The Great North Lymphatic Centre exists to make advanced lymphoedema and lymphatic surgery easier to access for people across the UK, from a base in the North of England.
Consultant plastic surgeons with NHS appointments in reconstructive microsurgery and lymphatic supermicrosurgery founded and lead the service. Our work combines specialist supermicrosurgical skill with the standards and ethics of NHS practice, delivered with clear communication and structured follow-up.

Your pathway
01First appointment (initial assessment)
History and examination, delivered in person or virtually, to understand your symptoms, goals and current treatment.
02Second appointment (ICG & procedure planning)
Face-to-face ICG lymphography to map working lymphatic vessels and assess severity, followed by an in-depth discussion to agree a treatment plan aligned to your goals.
03Surgery
Consultant-performed lymphoedema or lymphatic surgery as planned, as part of a broader care plan that includes compression and skincare.
04Follow-up
Structured reviews to monitor wounds, limb measurements and symptoms, and coordination with your lymphoedema therapist and GP.

We currently see patients and perform procedures at The Beverley Hospital, Gateshead and Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne.
